Decreasing our dependence on foreign oil - a plan

From feeling the pinch at the fuel pump, many are becoming more aware of the problems we are facing due to our dependence on foreign oil. This has also impacted our book business with higher costs for using our protective plastic mailers (which are derived from oil).
Oil man T. Boone Pickens has developed a plan to utilize alternative energy to help reduce our dependence on foreign oil (now at 70 percent).

His plan was also highlighted in an article he did this week in the Wall Street Journal. Here's a snippet.
"One of the benefits of being around a long time is that you get to know a lot about certain things. I'm 80 years old and I've been an oilman for almost 60 years. I've drilled more dry holes and also found more oil than just about anyone in the industry. With all my experience, I've never been as worried about our energy security as I am now. Like many of us, I ignored what was happening. Now our country faces what I believe is the most serious situation since World War II." - T. Boone Pickens

An active energy policy is long overdue in this country to get us back on track to controlling our future.

As for drilling for oil here, see this recent report by the U.S. Geological Survey - Vast oil, natural gas reserves estimated in Arctic

Take a look at this video to see what our dependence on foreign oil has done to make Dubai in the United Arab Emirates the fastest growing city on the planet today.

This includes the world's largest theme park (twice the size of Disneyworld), numerous mega-hotels, the tallest buildings, huge manmade islands, and those are just starting points to a huge metropolis...
